DC-Air®
True Wireless® direct conversion intraoral X-ray imaging.
Crystal clear images. No wire. No compromise.
Overview
Freedom of movement.
No compromise on image.
DC-Air® — the Wireless Intraoral Sensor — combines Athlos Si-CMOS direct conversion technology with Bluetooth 5.0 wireless connectivity. The result is a True Wireless® intraoral sensor that delivers the sharpness of direct conversion, the comfort of phosphor plates, and the workflow speed of a corded system — without the cord.
The DC-Air® system includes the sensor, a magnetic docking station, and the complete Zero Profile® holder set — designed by doctors together with Athlos for accurate intraoral positioning and patient comfort.
Features
Built for the clinic. Engineered for precision.
True Wireless® Workflow
No intraoral cable. Bluetooth 5.0 wireless link from sensor to docking station to PC. Sensor range up to 3 metres. Reduces patient discomfort and simplifies clinical workflow.
Direct Conversion Imaging
Si-CMOS direct conversion technology converts X-ray photons directly into signal — eliminating the scintillator step. The result: sharper detail, better contrast, and more consistent images.
Zero Profile® Holders
The purpose-designed Zero Profile® holder set includes Anterior, Posterior, Bitewing, Endodontic and Occlusal holders. Precisely aligns the sensor without relying on the cable for angulation — designed for patient comfort and repeatable positioning.
Battery & Safety
Up to 300 X-rays per charge. On-sensor safety memory stores one image. Dynamic self-calibration with every capture. Rechargeable Lithium-Ion battery. Magnetic docking for reliable recharging.
IP67 & Durability
Enhanced IP67 protection. Ultrasonic-bonded PPSU enclosure — a material with exceptional hydrolytic stability and impact resistance. Built for the demanding realities of daily clinical use.
Broad Software Compatibility
The DC-Air® TWAIN module integrates with Dentrix Ascend, Eaglesoft, Open Dental, Dexis, TigerView, Romexis, Acteon, Apteryx, Dexis, XDR Radiology, and many more TWAIN-enabled imaging platforms.

Recognition
Award-winning technology.
DC-Air® and the direct conversion technology behind it have been recognised by leading dental and healthcare industry awards programmes.
Independent Evaluation
Evaluated by Clinicians Report.
Clinicians Report is an independent dental product evaluation foundation trusted by practitioners worldwide. In 2022, DC-Air® was reviewed and highlighted across two dedicated CR evaluations — a First Look in January and a comparative assessment published in March.
In the March 2022 comparative evaluation, CR scientists and clinicians observed that DC-Air® radiographs showed improved clarity and subtle detail compared to conventional CMOS sensors — and described direct conversion technology as a significant advancement.
High resolution and excellent dynamic range highlighted in the CR First Look evaluation.
Wireless image transfer and processing observed at approximately 6–8 seconds — maintaining clinical workflow speed without a cable.
Clinicians found the sensor easy to work with and more comfortable than conventional corded sensors.
Featured in a dedicated March 2022 CR publication: “DC-Air®: Wireless Intraoral Sensor with Improved Image Quality.”
Clinicians Report is published by CR Foundation, an independent non-profit dental product testing organisation. Evaluations referenced: CR First Look, January 2022; CR Comparative Evaluation, March 2022.
